~ July 2023 ~

We have had yet another brilliant year at Robert Miles Infants and I want to thank everyone for the part they play in making this school such a special place. It has been a real privilege watching the children grow and develop into amazing people who are passionate about learning and are valuable members of our community. We are always sad to say goodbye to our Year 2’s as they move on to life at the juniors but know they are excited about this next stage and because of our links with the juniors we will continue to see them flourish.

We wish everyone a restful summer break and look forward to seeing you all again in September.

Mrs Adams and all the staff at Robert Miles Infants.

Thank you to those of you who took the time to complete our survey. The closing date is 21st July and in September we will carry out the draw for the winners of the book tokens. If the winner has moved to the juniors we will pass it onto you there.

We break up for the summer on Friday and children start back with us on Monday 4th September.

Please check the electronic calendar on our website for all school events over the year.

We were so lucky with the weather for our school picnic. The feedback was really positive and everyone had a great time. We raised over £350 which will be used for our outside learning provision.

We met with Aspens, our catering suppliers and discussed your comments. From September we will continue to offer a range of options but have more flexibility to mix and match. For example, you could have a jacket potato with beans, cheese, tomato sauce and/or salad/veg. The same applies to the pasta or main meal option. We will also be offering freshly baked home-made bread so no child will go hungry! You asked about the use of plastic pots and we will no longer have single use plastic. John and Katie have been monitoring which meals are popular and will make sure that these are the options available. We have ordered some new circular dining tables and will be creating more of a café style dining experience. Please would you help us to continue to improve our provision by choosing the school lunch option and not sending in packed lunches. We have a number of children with food allergies and to guarantee their safety we are asking you to choose the school lunch option. We will work with you to ensure that your child has food they enjoy eating.

We are really excited to welcome Mrs Allin, our new Forest School teacher, in September. Mrs Allin will be working with all classes as well as Robert Miles Club each evening and running our Grow Club at lunchtimes. A massive thank you to Mrs Feng who has taken such brilliant care of our allotment.

Congratulations to Miss Justice who is tying the knot over the summer and will join us back in September as Mrs Pilborough.

Our gardening club will resume after the summer holidays. It will run on the first Monday in the month, starting on Monday 2nd October. So, if you are at all slightly green fingered (or not!), we would love for you to join us. If you have any tools please bring them along. We will start at 9.00am and finish with a cuppa and a biscuit at 10.00am.

Thank you.
