~ October 2023 ~

Last week our attendance winners with a whopping 100% was Maple class.

Overall our school attendance was 96% which is higher than national average – well done everyone.

Have you booked a space for our family dining on 20th October?

Meals cost £2.70 and there is a choice of macaroni cheese, sweet chilli veg stir fry, pasta, tomato sauce, jacket potato, beans and cheese. Alongside this there is also freshly made bread, salad, vegetables, fruit, jelly, yoghurt and cookies.

To book your place please go to the office to pay for your meal.

We also have a special pumpkin themed lunch on the 12th October.

A survey about our lunches will be going out shortly. It would be great to hear your feedback.

Our school motto is ‘Work Hard, Be Kind’.

Work Hard: We teach children how to be excellent learners by demonstrating positive attitudes for learning (PALs).

On Monday your child will bring home their report card. These will give you information about how they have settled in so far. You will notice that we are using our Positive Attitudes for Learning (PALS) because these are valuable qualities which enable our children to be the best learners. These are also the qualities we celebrate in our Friday assembly. Your child’s teacher will also write some top tips to help you support your child at home.

This is a new format so we hope you like it.

Following this, report cards will look at progress in the key curriculum areas – reading, writing and maths.

On 12th October we hold our annual pumpkin competition. Bring your decorated pumpkin to display in our playground. There will be prizes for the most imaginative creations.

Robert Miles Club are also having their annual pumpkin party on 12th October.

Mrs Axten and the team have planned a range of pumpkin themed activities and this is always hugely popular. The party runs from 3.15-6.00pm and numbers are limited. Normal charges apply. Booking is done through the Schoolsbuddy app. Please speak to the office if you need some help with this.

Bookings are now open for parent/carer meetings. Each session lasts up to 10 minutes and is in person. If your child has additional needs Mrs Marshall, our special needs lead, will if possible, also attend that meeting with your class teacher. If you need longer to chat to Mrs Marshall she will arrange some additional time with you.

Please check that you have selected your child’s class and a time that suits. We look forward to seeing you.

Unfortunately we are unable to hold our Harvest celebration at St Mary’s Church, as originally planned. However the Methodist Church have very kindly stepped in and we will hold our celebration there instead. The Reverend has asked for some helpers to set up at 12.45pm and again to help tidy away after the service. If you are able to help please leave your name at the office. All parent volunteers are guaranteed a reserved seat! Please could all harvest donations be taken directly to the church. We will be asking for some volunteers to help us walk the children to the church. Please let your child’s teacher know if you are able to help. This is always a really lovely event and extremely well attended so we do hope you can join us.

Remember school is closed for INSET this Friday 6th. All the primary schools in our Nova Education Trust are working together to develop our vision of transformational schools. We will see you back in school on Monday 9th October. Have a lovely weekend.

Thank you,

Mrs Adams
