NewsletterAutumn Term - Friday 20th September

~ September 2024 ~

We have had a slight change to some of our harvest arrangements for next week and now will be holding this at Robert Miles Infant school instead of at the Methodist Church. Due to this, we will have a harvest performance in the morning at 9:15am and then again at 2:30pm on Wednesday 2nd October. Please could we ask that you attend only one of the performances due to numbers and ensuring that we have enough seats for all.

Please could you bring all donations with you or send with your child that morning so we can lay it out on our tables in the hall.

Thank you

You may have noticed some new playground equipment recently, which the children have loved using at play times and lunch times. The equipment was chosen by our School Council, who work with Mrs Attwood to ensure that children have a voice in our school. It was funded using some of the money from last year's PE and Sport Premium Funding.

Pumpkin Party:

Robert Miles Club will be having their annual pumpkin party on Thursday 24th October.

Mrs Axten and the team have planned a range of pumpkin themed activities and this is always hugely popular. The party runs from 3.15-6.00pm and numbers are limited. Normal charges apply - £9.75 for the session.

Please book through the Schoolsbuddy app. Please speak to the office if you need some help with this.

Pumpkin Competition:

On Friday 25th October,  we will hold our annual pumpkin competition. If your child would like to enter, please bring your decorated pumpkin to display in our playground, on the morning of 25th October. There will be prizes for the most imaginative creations and all entries will receive a certificate.

We are looking to recruit some parents to our governing body. The role of the governing body is extremely important in schools, as they work closely with the headteacher and senior leadership team to drive the strategic development of the school and raise standards of achievement. You can find out more information in this leaflet.

If you are interested in this role, or would like to find out more information, please visit the school office, or speak to a member of staff on the school gate.

Our current governing body

Kausor Amin- Ali                      Kelly Ryan                 Aimee Attwood

Chair of Governors                 Head Teacher               Staff Governor

        Nicola Vaughan                   Laura Collinson

                    Co-opted / Parent Governors

Last week, we were visited by the mayor of Bingham, Gareth Williams, to discuss how the local council may be able to support the school to continue to become more environmentally friendly. This is is line with one of our school promises to 'care for the environment' and something we will be continuing to work on over the year. Here's a reminder of our school promises:

On Friday 11th September, all classes were sent a 'test post' to check all children have at least one parent / carer who is an active user, as most of our communication will soon be through Tapestry. If you do not currently have access to Tapestry, please speak to your child's class teacher so that we can send an activation link to your email address.

Thank you

Have you checked if your child is entitled to additional funding? This money comes into school and makes a big difference to what we can offer. Please click on the link to see if you are eligible.

It should only take a few minutes. If you are successful, you will be able to claim ten free sessions at our before / after-school provision (Robert Miles Club) and a free book bag!

Please contact the school office if you would like some support to complete the form.
