Thank you
A huge thank you to Hollybeck Garden Centre, in Southwell, who have very kindly donated a number of planting resources to our school, including compost, berry plants, bean seeds, pea plants and wildflowers. They will be used in our allotment area.
Hollybeck are a family-run independent business and we are very appreciative of the donation of resources, as well as the time they took out of their day to deliver them to our school. Our team of Eco-Warriors were on hand to help with the delivery!
You can find out more about Hollybeck Garden Centre at https://www.hollybeck.co.uk/
At Robert Miles Infant School, Year 2 children are embracing student leadership roles, with each child taking on a different responsibility. Teachers are responsible for guiding different groups, with the children having a variety of roles that contribute to the school community. Here is an overview of the student leadership roles at RMI, and some of the things they are currently working on:
Handy Helpers help with jobs around school, including clearing away the chairs after assemblies.
Digital Leaders manage the computers during assemblies and support in technology lessons.
Eco-Warriors organise our compost bins, maintain the allotment and will soon be planting seeds.
The School Council (made up or Year 1s and Year 2s) meet regularly to discuss school issues and are currently designing a poster for the Bingham train station.
Inclusion Buddies set up activities in the sensory room and support other children on the playground.
Librarians help with changing books and keeping our library organised.
Playground Pals and Sports Coaches ensure the playground is well-maintained and are on hand to support some of the younger children at playtime.
Mini Middays assist with pouring milk and supporting Reception children during their lunchtime.
Well-being Champions run a lunchtime club and offer support to children at playtime and in classrooms.
These leadership roles have been a rewarding experience for the children, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to the school’s wider life and is an area we are keen to develop further.

The school dinner menu will be changing in the summer term. You can download a copy here or find it on our website under 'For Parents > School Dinners'.
On Monday, the Reception children received a visit from the local police force, as part of their topic on 'People Who Help Us'. They loved hearing about the experiences of the police officers and took turns to explore the police van. They were even treated to hearing the siren!
Thank you to all our families who supported our litter pick, last Thursday, as part of developing one of our whole school promises; ‘Caring for our environment’. It was wonderful to see so many of our children inspired to try and do their bit to look after our planet. Thank you to Mrs Attwood and Miss Holt for organising the litter pick and supporting with the event too.
Due to limited storage space for coats and bags, we kindly ask that children do not bring large bags to school.
If your child needs to bring additional items, such as a change of clothes, please can we ask that you use a small bag to help keep our spaces safe and organised.
Thank you for your understanding.

If anyone has any large pebbles (big enough for painting), we would love to collect them to use as part of a project to help develop some of our outdoor spaces.
In preparation for our summer fair, we would also like to start collecting clean jars (e.g. empty jam jars / pasta sauce jars).
If you are able to help with either of these, please send them in with the children or directly to the office.
Thank you
