Summer Term

Summer Term

This term our topic focus will be 'Save our planet'.

We had an important letter sent to us from Greta Thunberg explaining that a lot of rubbish had been left in the forest school area. We all became enthusiastic litter pickers and from that point onwards have understood what it means to be an activist and the importance of protecting our planet.

We have learnt about Greta Thunberg and David Attenborough and how they are significant people in their stand against the environment and how we can protect our world.

We have been learning about hot and cold countries across the world, as well as classifying animals according to what they look like and learnt about different everyday materials.

Please take a look at our curriculum newsletter and curriculum pages for more information on what key knowledge is taught in each subject.

Keep your eyes peeled for more information on our learning and photographs of the exciting times we have during summer term in Year 1.

English

As part of our English lessons this week, we have been looking at the features of a letter and we have written our own letters to Mrs Ryan. We thought carefully about the structure of our letter and worked hard on focusing on the key points.

Over the last two weeks we have been busy working on creating our own booklets all about how we can help the environment. The children have spent a lot of time on these and we are very proud of the work they have created!
